Windows System Administrator Intern

We seek a Microsoft Windows System Administrator intern who is interested in helping us build out, maintain, and optimize our rapidly-growing systems infrastructure. This paid internship affords an excellent opportunity to apply and enhance your technical skills within a fast-moving, investor-backed startup environment.

Summary of Responsibilities

• Configure, administer, and support Microsoft operating system-based laptops, desktops, network infrastructure, database servers, web servers, email servers, and application software.
• Evaluate and optimize server and database performance
• Analyze internal and customer infrastructure requirements; produce/recommend server configuration options that meet those requirements

Required

• Experience working with Microsoft Windows 2000/2003 servers, Microsoft Winodws XP laptops and desktops
• Knowledge of Windows domain management / Active Directory
• Solid understanding of DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, wireless networks, and network security
• Experience troubleshooting network connectivity and client/server communication issues
• Proven ability to quickly understand and master unfamiliar software, technologies, and concepts
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical users

Nice to Have

• Experience administering Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) web server and ASP.NET web applications
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server installation, configuration, administration, and performance-tuning
• Experience with MySQL installation, configuration and administration
• Interest in learning web application development using ASP.NET
